One of the things I had hoped to do when I made the New and Improved Batzner site was to have more updates as to my compositional activities. Haven’t really done that. I’ll do better in the future! Here is what has been happening:
My new work Golfballs the Size of Hail was performed at Electronic Music Midwest last month (and is being done again tonight). The piece is for natural horn and live electronics, I’ll have a score and recording up soon. I’ll probably get a recording tonight and it will take me a while to process it.
This weekend, Mercurial is being performed at the University of Mary Washington tomorrow night as a part of the Electroacoustic Barn Dance. Meerenai Shim is also going to be playing the piece a lot in the future and, at her request, I made an 8.5×11″ copy of the score for easier distribution. You can download that right now!
The weekend after this one, I’ll be running around the College Music Society’s National Conference in San Diego. I’m on panels, chairing sessions, doing some career mentoring, and such. Should be fun!
